Adding 1,342 New Pages to Your Site in the Next 12 Months

In search engine optimization, content is king and linking is queen. Content certainly is important to getting visitors to your site because they are looking for information.

You can get content in a variety of ways. In the Web 2.0 world of today, user-generated content is the first way to do such a thing. Another way is to write it yourself or have someone right it for you. And yet another way is to get it free articles from a variety of directories.

Well, let’s take a look at how to get more pages on your site, even 7,000 new pages:

Blogs

Blogs are one of the quickest ways to add new content to your site. You can write a blog post of two or three paragraphs pretty easily. You can write on industry happenings, things you’ve learned over the years or rants about things that you hate. I had one client who consistently added new blogs by commenting on other blogs in his field of expertise. Right now he has 685 indexed blog posts and is #2 on Google in a competitive arena for the main keyword phrase of his web site.

By you average three new posts every week, you’ll have more than 156 pages added to your site by the end of 12 months. And you’ll get additional content on your site if you allow comments.

Write Your Own Articles

If you like to write, then try putting together articles on a consistent basis. A good place to start is by brainstorming a long list of potential ideas. Then pick out the one that you think would have to most potential to be a quick win. Start outlining ideas for the article and then develop the content. If you don’t have the time to actually write the articles, then hand off the article outlines to a professional writer who can ghostwrite it for you. If you add a new article every two weeks, by the end of a year you will have 26 new articles on your site. And if you submit those articles to directories, you’ll be amazed how many incoming links you could have to your site.

Create Your Own Article Submission Site

You can create a directory on your site to which others can add articles. The company, Interactive Tools (www.interactivetools.com) has Article Manager, which allows you to add your own articles to your site easily, as well as allows others to add to your site. You can practically grow your site in your sleep. You’ll want to set some good standards, as well as have approval control over the articles so you don’t get junk on your site. And it’s helpful to have a specific focus to your site, like gardening in the South or refinishing furniture, so your site will be more focused. If you’re lucky, you could 10 new articles submitted to your site every week, which would come out to over 520 new pages this same time next year.

Get Free Articles

There are tons of article directories out there that offer free content to be used on web sites and newsletters. Just grab the content relevant and add it to your site. You might want to shoot for more obscure article directories so you don’t get content that is used on 5,000 other sites. If you add five new articles every week, by the end of 12 months you will have over 260 new articles.

Company Directories

You can create business directories that allow others to add their own information, such as a description, services, products, etc. If you’d like, you can even allow them to add new categories as long as it fits with the theme of your site. There are some sites tat even charge a minimal fee, which would allow you to make some money in the process. If five new companies add a profile each week, you could have 260 new pages within 12 months.

Testimonials

Testimonials can have a strong influence on those visiting your site. Ask your best customers to write a testimonial for you and then create pages of testimonials. If the testimonial is long enough, you can create an individual page for the testimonial with pictures. Add one every month, and by the end of the year you’ll have 12 new pages on your site.

Case Studies

Case studies are a great way to brag a bit about your company. You can write case studies of the successes that you’ve seen with your clients. This is the outline that we use on our case studies:

Overview of Our Client's Situation

Analysis of the Situation

Implementation of a Solution

The Results of Our Work

By writing one case study a month, 12 months later you’ll have 12 new pages on your site.

Product Reviews

You can take a look at what’s going on in your industry and write reviews of different products. If you do two reviews every month, then by the end of 12 months you will have 24 new pages on your site. Also, by allowing your readers to add comments to your review, which will add even more content to your site.

Frequently Asked Questions

You can have readers submit questions for you to answer, or you can pull questions from your day-to-day interaction with clients. Keep a running list of these questions and add them when you have the time. There are probably other people who have these questions. You can add new sub-categories every month and by the end of 12 months you will have 12 new pages.

How-to Articles

This is similar to your articles directory but it is much more information oriented. It is practical ways to doing various things, like how to trim an apple tree or how to refinish a desk. You can do step-by-step instructions from things you’ve been doing for years. You might be concerned that they’ll lose business if they tell potential clients how to do everything. However, it also set yourself up as an expert and people might be too busy to even do what your doing the how-to article on. By adding on new how-to each month, you’ll have 12 new pages after one year.

Interviews

You don’t necessary have to be the expert all the time. Why not interview friend or partner who is an expert in your field? Just put together a good list of questions and then put a tape recorder in front of them. Have the tape transcribed and before you know it, you have new content. If you do one of these a month, then 12 pages will be added in a year.

Videos

This is related to the previous point. If you video tape the interview, then you can add this content to your web site. The search engines are indexing videos these days and putting them in some of the search engine results. It also helps if you submit the videos to directories. You can also create videos that are how-to’s, comments, insights, interviews and more. You could have twelve new pages of content in one year if you do one a month.

Monthly Newsletter

If you send out a monthly newsletter then it is a no brainer to add this to your site. You can offer tips and information about events, new products or services, quick tips and quotes. The ideas are endless. If you just do one newsletter a month, within a year, that 12 new pages.

News Events

You can add news events pertaining to your particular industry by combing the web sites and newsletters. These others sources will appreciate the added publicity and you’ll have new content. Plus, you will be seen as a source of good, relevant information. If you have a page for each month, that adds up to 12 new pages.

That’s about it. I’m sure I’ve missed some ideas here but you get the pictures. Take a look at what other sites in your industry are doing to add content and then try it on your site.
