Ford Lemon -- Is it time for a squeeze?
Most of the states have established their own lemon laws. I did a web site a couple years ago for a lemon law attorney here in Colorado. He was able to tell me which cars are most prone to be lemons. I forget what the models were but it didn't surprise me.
I was talking with a friend in Ford Customer Service today who deals with problem cars. Oftentimes Ford will bend over backwards if there is a problem with a new car. It behooves them financially and image-wise to get the new car fixed rather than buy it back.
New car owners don't really know this because they interact with the dealers who are sometimes not always so eager to help. Some dealers are really great about helping because they know that if they mess up, the new car owner will tell any friend or neighbor who will listen about the horrors they've gone through.
Ford does a good job through their Customer Relationship Center of tracking problem cars and getting them fixed correctly.
Any good business would want to do this. I try to do this with my search engine marketing business. I'm not going to hit a home run every time, but I do try to make things right. I give them a couple months free of marketing or do something extra because customer retention will keep people coming back.
