I just got the email below from SCORE (www.scoredenver.org) talking about a fraudulent letter that’s being sent to LLC’s. I got the letter they are talking about in the mail and thought you’d want to know about it if you’re an LLC in Colorado:
“A letter with an official looking logo from Corporate Controller Unit was sent to small LLC businesses that are licensed in the state of Colorado requesting a fee of $225.00 be sent to satisfy the State Statue of Periodic Reporting CCS Section 7-90-301 and 7-90-501 by April 15. This is a fraudulent request as reported by the Colorado Secretary of State and numerous media outlets. Small LLC businesses, when notified by the Colorado Secretary of State can do the required periodic reporting activity online for a fee of $10.00.
“According to the Sec of State’s office CCU is located in Nevada and has pulled this scam three years ago and is making the rounds in Colorado again.”
So, toss this letter if you get it and tell others to do the same.
